What are the qualifications of Bradley® instructors?
The term Bradley® is a registered trademark to ensure you are receiving expert childbirth education from a
highly educated, nationally certified instructor. All Bradley® instructors are independent childbirth educators
who have undergone intensive training and must re-affiliate yearly. This assures you a qualified,
professional instructor, current with advances in the field. Additionally, the majority of Bradley® instructors
have given birth naturally using the Bradley Method®.
Bradley® instructors are also certified as labor support professionals.
Does the Bradley Method® really work?
Over 87% of couples who have taken Bradley® classes nationwide have gone on to have spontaneous,
unmedicated births. Yes, the Bradley Method® really works!
The couples who take a Bradley® class and end up needing medication or intervention can take comfort in
knowing that they did their best and were able to make fully informed decisions, with the health of baby and
mother always in mind.
How does the cost of a Bradley® class compare?
Although a general comparison can be made by figuring cost per hour, Bradley® classes are worth far
more, but are generally less expensive than other classes when a true comparison is made. Bradley®
classes provide a minimum of 24 hours of instruction and your tuition includes a student workbook and
additional handouts. Complimentary review classes are available until you have your baby and one-on-one
consultation is provided from the moment you become a student continuing throughout the postpartum
period, including assistance with breastfeeding. Classes are video enriched, labor techniques are
practiced in every class, and many instructors, myself included, provide access to an extensive lending
library.
What is unique about the Bradley Method®?
Bradley® classes teach expectant couples how to give birth naturally, following the natural process of
labor, avoiding unnecessary interventions, and using natural abdominal breathing and deep relaxation
techniques. The Bradley Method® provides excellent coach's training, fully demystifying the labor process
and teaching many important ways to help the mother stay healthy and low risk during pregnancy, avoid
unnecessary pain in labor, and cope with the challenges they will face together. Education on
breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and newborn care is also provided.
Although pregnancy and labor sometimes present risk factors out of your control, the Bradley Method®
emphasizes excellent nutrition and exercises to help you avoid complications, while providing
comprehensive education about your options and the risks and benefits of many alternatives.
Classes are kept small to ensure individual attention to your needs; and the 12-week class series is
designed to provide thorough education and preparation for the rigors of labor and the birth of your family.
Studies have shown that completion of such a comprehensive program leads to higher rates of natural,
unmedicated birth.

How are course fees determined?
The cost of a Bradley® series is generally 10% of the average out-of-pocket cost of a natural childbirth in
the area where the class is offered. As with many types of services, course fees will vary depending on
individual instructors and may be affected by factors such as expenses for class space and/or materials
and whether they teach on a regular, on-going basis. Additionally, higher fees are generally charged for
private classes. Many insurance plans will provide partial reimbursement of the cost of childbirth education.
Please contact me for detailed information regarding my course fee.
Note that I am happy to discuss alternatives such as a payment plan or bartering if that
would help you afford the class. Tuition assistance may be available in certain
circumstances.

Why should I have a natural birth?
In the absence of true medical indications, a drug-free birth is the safest for mother and baby. NO DRUG
has ever been proven 100% safe in pregnancy!
The process of preparation for a unmedicated labor and delivery promotes strong family bonds.
