I have a unique perspective on what it means to learn to trust your body because my husband and
I suffered several years of infertility and failed treatments before successfully conceiving our first
child through in vitro fertilization (IVF) in 2003.
I always knew that I wanted to have an unmedicated birth and, like many women reading this
webpage, had heard about The Bradley Method® a few years earlier from an acquaintance who
described an amazing birth experience. Lucky me, because enrolling in our Bradley® class helped
me to tune-in to my own intuition and trust that indeed my body was capable of growing a healthy
baby – which is no small accomplishment considering the fear propagated by many maternity care
providers in even the healthiest and most confident of women. We were empowered by our
Bradley® class to make decisions about – and take responsibility for – my pregnancy, labor, and
birth that continue to impact our lives and family positively today. A Bradley® education is for life
and, once you have it, it is something you want to share with the world.
I have been an affiliated Bradley Method® instructor since the fall of 2005. I have worked with
couples preparing for hospital birth, birth center birth, and home birth. A large part of what I do is
educating women about their options for maternity care and ensuring they have chosen a care
provider who is truly supportive of their desire for a natural birth.
Our first child was born in a freestanding birth center in March 2004 and we welcomed our
second child into our family with a home waterbirth in January 2008.
